Are Assassins bugged?
Ok, I've been wondering this for a while.
I have an assassin. Everytime we fight a mob, no matter how many other people are around, the baddies will go straight towards my assassin. And it doesn't happen with just mine either. I've seen atleast 5 assassins being targeted. So I'd like to know, is this a bug? |

The AI.
Mob AI looks for the targets in proximity, checks their HP and their AL. They jump on the low-AL assassin first, rather than the high AL warrior next to the assassin. Thus, warrior should lead, get the attention, before the assassins jump in later, stab-stab-kill, retreat, rinse and repeat. I think |

They target mostly the first ones they saw, in except for some monster which they look like organized. For example,The centaurs in Maguuma jungle, they always try to kill your monk first. In Shiverpeaks, Ranger Stone summit with Melandru Arrow, they spread Bleeding on everyone by changing the target and so on. For you, in the example, they problably see you first than another team. What I suggest, if you hench, is to use the Ctrl+Shift+Space fonction to call target because your hench answer to your call. Tak a tank and let him go first to take the aggro then you can go almost without being targeted by anyone.

Any profession that faces PvE mobs would do well to read the "The Art of Tanking" which is right here on this forum. I especially direct your attention to the comments on chain aggro.
If you are playing with henchies, bring a longbow and at least one warrior hench. Send that hench in with a shot and pull. Once the mob is engaged, you can run in and wreak havoc. You can keep the AI aggro off yourself by ensuring that your AC and health are higher than the henchies. Of course, it will be difficult to get a high AC compared to a shield warrior. Where you can win is by ensuring that your life penalty from using skill runes is over-balanced by using a combination of vigor runes, weapon mods, and armor choices. When playing with humans, the balance is different but the mob AI remains the same. The variable this time is that you can't reliably predict the life/armor class of your team members. Thus, you may find working with henchies easier than working with humans. |
